Life
From the Americas to Hollywood
Born in Cleveland, raised in Mexico City, trained in California: the early years of an artist who began music at the age of eight.
Cleveland, then Mexico City
Jeane Manson was born on 1 October 1950 in Cleveland, Ohio. She spent the first twelve years of her life in Mexico City. Her father, John Manson, was a writer and producer for film and television in the United States and Latin America.
California
She left Mexico with her mother and her sister Barbara to settle in California, in Hollywood. From her teenage years, she was drawn to music, dance and acting.
She began learning music at eight and chose two instruments: guitar and piano.
A complete training
At university she earned a degree in music and continued her studies in singing and composition. She then joined Lee Strasberg's Actors Studio in Hollywood. Her first film roles followed, before she left for Europe.
